What is a profection year?+
A profection year is a technique from Hellenistic astrology that assigns a different house to each year of your life, cycling through all 12 houses in order. At age 0 you start with the 1st house, at age 1 the 2nd house, and so on. After age 11, the cycle repeats — age 12 is a 1st house year again. The activated house reveals the major life themes and areas of focus for that year. It's one of the simplest yet most predictive timing techniques in traditional astrology.
How do I calculate my profection year?+
Take your current age and divide by 12. The remainder plus 1 gives you the activated house number. For example, at age 25: 25 ÷ 12 = 2 remainder 1, so 1 + 1 = House 2 (a 2nd house profection year focused on money and values). Your profection year resets on your birthday each year, so the themes shift when you turn a new age.
What is a time lord in astrology?+
In profections, the "time lord" is the planet that rules the zodiac sign on the cusp of your activated house.
